The City of Bushnell will once again sponsor the "Grant a Wish 2012" program this year.  A tree has been placed in the lobby of City Hall, located at 117 E Joe P. Strickland Jr. Ave.  Ornaments listing a Sumter County child's first name, age and gift wishes adorn the tree.

Gifts must be received by December 10th for distribution.

Anyone wishing to grant a wish for a child may do so by selecting a name from the tree, granting the wish on the child's wish list, and bringing the unwrapped gift to Bushnell city hall between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Anyone is welcome to just drop off a gift, and a suitable child will be selected for you.

The Children's Home Society, who works with the Florida Department of Children and Families, has provided the recipients from the Sumter County area. This agency provides many services, including foster care, adoption, and working to reverse crisis situations within family units.

Please help the City make this program a success by letting everyone know and sharing your Christmas with someone in need.  For more information, please contact the City of Bushnell at (352) 793-2591. The City Council of the City of Bushnell, Florida, has determined that in order to promote and serve the best interest of the citizens, it is appropriate and proper to amend certain provisions of Chapter 17 of the Code of Ordinances governing Parks and Recreational uses. The parks and other recreational facilities in the City are supported through property taxes received from the citizens of Bushnell. Many users of these facilities live outside the City of Bushnell, but reap the benefits of the use of the Parks.

Due to the increased costs to maintain the parks, ball fields, and concession stands, the City needs to recoup some of those costs from the users by charging a use fee. These fees will help the City to maintain the concession stand equipment, and ball fields and park lighting.

The Fall Festival Committee was formed in January 2011. The purpose of the Fall Festival Committee is to review the historical financial information and activities of the Fall Festival in an attempt to improve the event for the upcoming year. The committee members are: Mayor Bil Spaude, Joann Pitts, Della Oxendine, Andrea Yacuzzo, Joycelyn Garnett, Ruby Mark, Michael Worthington, and Tricia Hansen. This committee will meet periodically and the meeting dates will be published on the City of Bushnell website as they are scheduled. All citizens interested in having an input in the Bushnell Fall Festival are urged to attend these committee meetings.
