The City of Bushnell will once again be holding its Summer Day Camp Program in 2017. This year there have been several changes made to the program. Camp will run for 6 weeks – from June 12 through July 14, 2017. This year we have a new Coordinator; Ms. Sendia Garcia.

The weeks will be open for all children AGES 5-13.

PLEASE NOTE:  Bushnell Electric customers and City of Bushnell taxpayers fund the activities and events, like the Fall Festival, Movies in the Park, and Summer Day Camp, for everyone to enjoy.  In an effort to give back to those citizens, a discount on daycamp registration is being provided to City of Bushnell customers (Must show ID and verify City of Bushnell residency). There will also be a discount given to all registrants during the week of Session 4 (4th of July week), as there will only be 4 days of camp this week.

The Before and After Care Program will now be paid directly to the City of Bushnell. This Before and After Care program will allow parents to drop children off at the High School at 7:30 a.m. instead of the normal 8:00 a.m. drop off time, and pick their children up between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Please find the Summer Day Camp Applications attached below. Please return the application to Bushnell City Hall Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at 117 E. Joe. P. Strickland, Jr. Ave., Bushnell.

For more information, call Bushnell City Hall at 793-2591 or Sendia Garcia at 457-4419.

Every year the City of Bushnell teams up with the Children's Home Society and places an Angel Tree in the lobby of City Hall. This allows the community to help grant Christmas wishes to children in the community. This year the support and out-reach from the community was overwhelming!

The support came from all directions. Sumter Oaks RV Park came and took 18 children and provided gifts for them.  Many citizens throughout Bushnell came to pick their child or children to make their Christmas bright. A huge THANK YOU TO THE COMMUNITY!

The local girls softball team, SWAT 14U (Softball with Attitude Girls 14 and up) held a tournament at Kenny Dixon sports Complex and did a Pitch, Hit & Give.  Every player was asked to bring a new unwrapped toy for a child. The girls did an amazing job collecting toys for those in need. All of the toys collected were donated to the Children's Home Society. It was a very Merry Christmas, thanks to our very generous and caring community! THANK YOU GIRLS!

The City of Bushnell held the 9th annual "Grant a Christmas Wish" program this year. The Children's Home Society, who works with the Florida Department of Children and Families, provided the names of 59 Sumter County children in need this Christmas season.

The Grant a Christmas Wish program was a huge success! The City was overwhelmed with the generosity of this community and the staff here at the City; there were so many wonderful toys and clothing brought in for the children. The citizens of the community came with bags of toys and open hearts, and this program resulted in providing Christmas gifts to over 60 children. All of the children received multiple gifts and most received more then what they asked for.

The City of Bushnell would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all who helped support the 2013 Grant a Christmas Wish program. The City would like to wish everyone a Happy Holiday and a safe and Happy New Year!

The City of Bushnell held the 7th annual "Grant a Christmas Wish" program this year. The Children's Home Society, who works with the Florida Department of Children and Families, provided the names of 50 children in need this Christmas season. This organization provides a safe harbor for children and helps to reverse crisis situations within family units. Children's Home Society provides treatment for developmentally disabled children, foster care, adoption, group homes, child abuse prevention, emergency shelters, and case management.

The Grant a Christmas Wish program was a huge success! The City was overwhelmed with the generosity of this community and the staff here at the City; there were so many wonderful toys and childrens' clothing brought in for the children. The citizens of the community came with bags of toys and open hearts, and this program resulted in providing Christmas gifts to over 70 children, not just the original 50 names on the tree.

The City of Bushnell would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all who helped support the 2011 Grant a Christmas Wish program, and we wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year!
