City Council

The Bushnell City Council consists of five voting members: Mayor, Vice Mayor and three members each running on four year terms for seats one through five and each having one vote. The Council Chambers are located on the first floor of the Bushnell City Hall at 117 E. Joe P. Strickland, Jr. Avenue.

An affirmative vote of three members is necessary to transact municipal business. The City Council’s regular meetings are held once monthly on the first Monday of the month at 6:00 pm.

The City Council legislate City Ordinances, adopt Resolutions, approve policies, adopt budgets, set the milage rate and conduct other municipal business.

The current Council consists of :

  • Mayor – Bil Spaude
  • Vice Mayor – Bill Durham
  • Council Members:
    • Joe P. Strickland Jr
    • Dale Swain
    • Karen Davis

Councilman Swain has held office for over 24 years.

 

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE, The City of Bushnell will be holding a Special Meeting immediately following the Second and Final Budget Hearing on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 6:00 pm in the Bushnell Council Chambers located at 117 E Joe P. Strickland Jr. Ave.

The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss the vacancy of the Mayor (Seat 1) position.

All interested citizens are urged to attend.

The City of Bushnell is seeking letters of interest from Bushnell residents interested in serving as City Council Member to fill the unexpired term of Bil Spaude, Seat #1. Remaining City Council members will select an eligible resident to complete the term on October 1, 2018 at 6:00 PM at the regularly scheduled Bushnell City Council Meeting.

Those interested in appointment to the Council seat must submit a letter of interest to the Bushnell City Clerk, Christina Dixon no later than 12:00 noon on Wednesday, September 26, 2018. The City Clerk is located at 117 E Joe P Strickland, JR., Ave., Bushnell, FL 33513. Interested residents must also provide proof of City residency, a current Florida driver's license and current Sumter County voter registration card.

The selected resident will be required to take an Oath of Office and complete a Financial Disclosure Form for formal appointment.
