Beware: New SCAM Alert Targeting Utility Customers

It has been reported to the City that there is a new scam going around that is targeting our utility customers.

The customer reported receiving an email from someone claiming to be a City of Bushnell representative and that the customer was in danger of having their power shut off for non payment. The individual was requesting the customer to make a payment immediately  in order to avoid disconnection.

If you receive a suspicious email requesting payment so your services are not disconnected, please call City Hall at 352-793-2591 to verify if the email is legitimate or not.

** Always remember the following:
  • Verify the senders email address. I.E. if the email is not coming from a City of Bushnell email address; do not respond to it, do not open any attachments and do not send them money.
  • If something seems off about the email, call City Hall to verify.  I.E. you already paid your bill, your bill is not due yet, there are grammatical errors in the email, etc.
If you have any questions, please call City Hall at 352-793-2591.
